A prisoner of history (Anyone.)

((I had to post this up while it was still on my mind D: and don't ask about the title.))

Sitting up in bed Eva had her arm resting over her stomach, her eyes lifeless staring out the window. Belle had helped the girl put of her cloths to wash the blood off, plus her cloths was tight on her pressing up against the bruises Leroy had left. Once Eva was in a hospital gown, Belle got her a glass of warm tea before leaving, not wanting to let the girl being alone after what happened to her and how Eva looked like she's lost her faith but Eva asked to be alone. Slightly cupping her hand over the glass mug her eyes gazed at the needle in her arm, blood throwing in her body from what she had lost throwing up, feeling the urge to rip it off not caring if she needed blood. No one would care... No one.. flashes of Leroy kicking her telling her how no one would miss her if she died made Eva crushed her glass in her hands. Eva ran her hand down her face, biting her lip she could feel tears running down her cheeks, the ravenclaw crossed her legs.

She could still feel his fingers inside her and it made her sick He's the lucky one... Clearing her throat she hoped Jim didn't find out about what happened, hoped he didn't see the blood in the halls. Wait why could he care? Clearly he was hiding something and Eva wasn't stupid, she could read right threw him. It didn't take her long to find out about him being a werewolf "When can i get out of this god forsaken place?!" she growled to herself. Something in her snapped, not knowing if she'll be the same sweet innocent Evaine everyone once new or come out of this as a different person, one thing she knew was that. Never again will she let anyone push her around.

Belle hadn't actually told Jim about it this time. He had heard from the students. There had been a crowd gathered outside the lower floors as Leroy had been escorted by with a couple of teachers. When Jim had asked what was going on, a seventh-year had said that Leroy had beaten up a girl really bad and that he was probably going to get expelled this time. Jim didn't need to ask who the girl was. Forgetting all about his classes, his homework, he had dashed off to the Hospital Wing as fast as his legs would carry him. If teachers were escorting Leroy away, he must have done some serious damage. Maybe the worst he had ever done ever. His heart was pounding like mad by the time he finally got there, and he felt the color drain from his face at the sight of her. Bruises everywhere, an IV on her arm. Oh God, oh God, no... "Eva..." It was all he could say before rushing to her side. "Eva, I'm...oh my God, how could I have let this..." He couldn't even get the words out. Why did Leroy always manage to hurt her? Why did Jim always fail at protecting her when she needed it most? "Eva, I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm so sorry." He bit his lip, not sure what else to say as he took her hand.

Staring out at the window Evaine didn't hear someone come in until someone called her name "Huh?" She turned her head seeing it was Jim. Oh god... she tried hiding her face not wanting him to see her like this Out of all people why him.. Why not Brie or Todd.. Eva thought taking in a deep breath as she whimpered in pain, it still hurt to breath or let alone talk. Eva slightly jumped taking her hand away from Jim when he touched it "S sorry.. Kinda.. Jumpy.." she tried to speak but her voice keep fading in and out

Jim recoiled back as Evaine did, her reaction making her think he had hurt her or something. But it looked like she was just a little spooked from her encounter with Leroy. Jim hoped that could be fixed over time. "It's okay. It's...fine." He rested his hands on his knees, fingers tapping anxiously. He wasn't sure what to say to her. What could he say? What could he possibly say that would console her from whatever happened to her? "I...I saw Leroy...being taken away by a couple of teachers. I guess...he's finally going to get what's coming to him." He looked back up at Evaine. "They're going to be extra-sure that this doesn't happen again, Eva. Mark my words. If they don't expel him, they're sure to give him a restraining order of some sort, so that he can't come near you again."

Evaine lowered her head still in though about what has happened, what Leroy had said, had done. Her hand clinched the sheets tightly. Strands of her black hair fell over her face, the ends of her hair slimy from her blood "So come here to return the favor from when i took care of you when Leroy cracked your ribs." she manged to say with a slight giggle but held her sides. Her eyes widen when he talked about Leroy clinching onto the sheets even more she but her lip "Well he has something to remember me by." she grinned from her stabbing him but frowned "What all did you hear?'. Evaine looking up at Jim worried about what all he knows and should she tell him. "I doubt he'll obey a restraining order.. He said he wanted me dead... and no one would care if I was gone.."

Jim laughed with her, trying to ease the heavy atmosphere. "Well, I would have come here anyway, even if I didn't owe you one," he said. "I just...want to be there for you, as much as I can." Jim just hoped it would be enough to make it up to her, for not being there when she needed him most. And this was the second this had happened. Why couldn't he be with her when it mattered? It frustrated him a lot. "They just said that he was being taken in because he beat up a girl really badly. And...well, I knew it was you. You're the only girl he goes after...like that." He clasped his hands together, trying to be strong for her, but he was still freaking out a little on the inside. How could Leroy have done this to an innocent person? How could he be so cruel? "They'll magic it up somehow, put a spell on it so it will prevent him from coming near you," he assured her, spitting out the first words that popped into his head. "There's gotta be a spell that does that sort of thing. If they can't find one, I will. I'm going to make sure he leaves you alone this time. For good." He looked at her at that last statement. "What? Eva, a lot of people would care if you were dead. Believe me. Emily, Maggie, Brie, Todd. Me. Remember what I said? You mean the world to me now, and I want to keep you in my life. If you're gone...I don't know what I'd do."

"That's not all he did..." Evaine shut her eyes "When he pulled me away from the Library.. When I was trying to study.. He threw me down on the cold stone floor pulling his wand the fist spell he used on me was 'Crucio'... then kicked me in the ribs.." she lowered her head not wanting to speak anymore but had to let him know "He called you a wolf again and a freak.. i snapped telling him that 'Your the freak, you don't have someone who loves you cause you don't take the time to really know them.. That's why you buy them off or put them in so much pain to make them scared to get you angry.. Your just... Your just a spoiled rich boy.'. I guess i should have keep my mouth shut cause it just got him angry. He knew my wand across the room and it's still down their.. His hands wonder my body and up my skirt.. Pulling down my panties and putting his fingers inside me.." a small tear ran down her cheek as she quickly whipped it away. "I tried fighting back but the more i struggled and keep hitting him the more he keep going... He kissed me and I didn't know what ells to do.. I.. Kissed him back and now i want to burn my mouth for kissing him but it was the only way to get close to his wand and stabbing him in the shoulder to get away.." Evaine sighed rubbing her arm then looked at the IV before looking back at Jim "I couldn't make it to the steps before he send another spell at me 'Stupefy'... then he keep kicking me over and over and over... So angry at me and keep saying you was the lucky one... I don't get him.. at all.. Belle was able to come down and get him off but I started throwing up blood.. and well I'm here.." she shrugged her shoulders.

Evaine slightly tugged on the IV wanting it out of her it was driving her nuts having a needle in her "Yeah.. ok.." Eva said like she didn't believe him "Then why do i have this feeling like your hiding something from me?"

Jim thought his face couldn't get any paler, but as Evaine described what Leroy did to him, he felt all the color leave his face, leaving him white as a sheet. He felt his hands start to shake, whether from fear or anger, he didn't know. He balled them into fists to keep them still. He swallowed, feeling nauseous. How could Leroy do this? How could he sink even lower than he had before? "Oh God...Eva..." He tried to say something that would make her feel better, but his mind was completely blank. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there..." His voice trailed off, although he silently thanked Professor Mallery that she had stepped in when she did. If Leroy had been allowed to continue, he might have damaged Evaine beyond repair. "Hiding something?" He looked up at her. Did she get wind that he had been kissing Pereus? And Aurora as well? "I'm just...trying to get my emotions straight," he replied, feeling like there was enough truth in that statement. "They're...all over the place right now and I'm trying to get things sorted out. If I need your help, I'll be sure to ask you. Okay?" He gave her a little smile.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry he keep saying, like a guilty puppy who did something bad? What was he hiding, Evaine wasn't stupid she'll find out sooner or later, she didn't know if she was still in shocked from what happen with her with Leroy but she snapped "Look if you don't have any feelings for me, I suggest you come out and say it. I'm some fucking puppet with you men who can use me and throw me around like a rag doll later!" she nearly shout before covering her mouth coughing. Her chest started to feel heavy again no doubt she'll have to stay for two weeks in here if not a month. Her back in the wall, her brown eyes glanced at Jim, you could tell she had lost her trust in faith. It would be tough to bring her out of her dark depression but not impossible. Evaine felt lost, confused, tried of feeling used and most of all thinking Jim will turned out to be like another Leroy in a way... Lying to her, making her feel loved and wanted and then leave her.

Jim actually jumped back at Evaine's harsh voice. He had never seen her act so venomous towards him before. "What? Eva, no, of course I have feelings for you," he insisted. "How could you ever doubt that, after everything we've been through? I'm not like Leroy, and you know that. I would never intentionally hurt you or cause you pain." He reached out to take her hand again, trying to will her to understand. He might be struggling with his feelings for Perseus and Aurora, but the one thing he knew for sure was that he wanted to keep Evaine in his life. She was always so bright, she pushed away the shadows that always plagued his mind. He couldn't live without that.

Eva ran her hand threw her face, pushing her hair away from her face. She didn't know is she could trust what he was saying Eva felt confused. "I don't know what to believe.." she cried, Eva could feel Jim taking a hold of her hand once again. Wanting to pull away tell him to go away to get out of her life, she couldn't bring herself to say it.. Not yet.

"You can believe your friends," Jim insisted. "They'll never betray you. Me, Brie, Todd, Emily, Maggie, we'll never turn our back on you. We'll always be there to back you up, no matter what problems you might face. That's what friends do, Eva." He squeezed her hand, hoping that some of his words were getting to her. If he couldn't make her feel better, he hoped that some of her other friends might. He and Evaine were in a complicated situation right now, and that was probably getting in the way of him reassuring her completely.

Friends.. Still weird to hear let alone say, for years she's been alone and for years she's been okay with that. "Stop it.." she said in a low tone. Evaine was hearing his words but it was like her mind couldn't tell between truth and lie now. Clinching her teeth together she felt her hands starting to shake from anger "Stop it, stop it!" she said pushing him away from her "Stop lying to me, stop acting like your in love with me when your clearly not.. I can tell your hiding something I'm not stupid." she held her head crying "Get out! I don't want you in my life.. i don't need you to keep lying to my face... Just leave me alone." she cried even more

Jim bit his lip in worry. Things were slipping out of control fast and he wasn't sure how to fix things. Why didn't Evane trust him anymore? Had Leroy hurt her so bad that she had lost faith in everything? "Eva, please, there are just...problems in my life right now that I'm trying to fix. I want to try and make them better before I tell you what's going on. I don't want you to worry anymore than you already do. I don't want to be a burden on your shoulders that you have to carry all the time." He kept hoping that whatever he said would put her at ease, but he knew it never would. It might be the truth, but it wasn't the full truth. And it looked like Evaine could sense it. Seeing her cry made his heart ache. How could he bring her out of this depression she was in? "Eva, please," he begged. "I've helped you before. Let me help you again."

Evaine shook her head "Your not a burden.. your not... I am..." she said, tears running down her face more, she shouldn't be crying if she can't breath that well. Plus all this pressure wasn't good at all, no telling if she might throw up blood again. She didn't know if she could trust him, she knew he was hiding something but what? What could it be that had her worried "Your seeing someone ells aren't you.." she mumbled, wanting to see if he was lying to her. Evaine's head keep saying one thing but her heart wanted Jim to hold her. Not caring in how much pain she could be she threw herself in his arms hugging him tightly crying on his shirt

Jim shook his head. "No, no, you've never been a burden, Eva," he assured her. "You're anything but that. You may need protecting, but that doesn't mean you're a burden. It just means that I need to fight harder to keep you by my side, that's all." He reached out to hold her face in his hands, his fingers wiping away her tears. He wasn't sure how he could answer her question without lying. He bit his lip before saying "You mean more to me than anything. That much is true, Eva." He wasn't lying on that one. Perseus and Aurora may hold a part of his heart, but they didn't mean to him as much as Evaine did. Nobody could ever compete with her. He held her in his arms, his hand rubbing her back, trying to comfort her like a mother might do to her child. "Ssshhh," he said softly. "It's okay. It's alright. I'm here."

Evaine felt Jim stroking her back it hurt cause of her bruises but she ignored the pain, Hiding her face in his shoulder she held him close to her. She knew he was telling the truth by the look in his eyes, he didn't look away when after he told her but she still couldn't fight eh feeling. Hopefully it will go away in time. Hearing what he said she spoke "What are you my father." she slightly giggled still crying on his shirt. She felt her chest getting heavy and started coughing, opening her eyes slightly she saw she coughed up a little bit on blood on his shirt "I-I'm sorry.". She looked up at him, her brown eyes red and puffy from crying, her face pale from the loss of blood, her black hair covering parts of her face. She bit her lip then looked down.

"I'll be as good as him, if you want," Jim said, looking at her. He knew how much Evaine loved her father, how much she missed him. If he could look after her like he did, he would do that. He just wished he was still here so Evaine could be shielded from all the pain and suffering she went through. Evaine started coughing and he helped to hold her steady, hating that her body shook so much with each wheeze. He shook his head at her apology. "It's fine, I've got plenty," he said. "Besides, I get blood on my clothes often enough when the full moon pops up. It's nothing new to me." He reached out to brush her hair out of her face. "Do you need to see Mr. Pelekai?" he asked. "I can get him for you if you want."

"Just be yourself, don't try changing for anyone. Not even for me." she said reaching out for his hand, whimpering in pain from her ribs she ignored it and squeezed his hand. Sure she wouldn't mind him being good as her father but her dad was a part of her pasted and no matter how much she missed him and wished he was here, she was just glad she had Jim at this moment. Evaine whipped the blood from her lips "Least I finally stopped throwing up.. I thought i was be out of blood by the time Miss. Mallery got me but here." she took a few slow breaths, closing her eyes she could felt his hand rushing her hair away from her face "No, I'm supposed to be resting and not go anything to reckless like getting upset. Clearly I obey the rules seeing I lashed out at you and started crying." she said, lifting her head up to look at his eyes "could to lay next to me for awhile. I don't want you to leave and I start thinking about what Leroy said and.. start thinking the worst all so I'm going to rip this needle out of my arm."

Jim felt a surprising amount of anger that flashed through him at the mention of Leroy. "That bastard..." Jim had always swore that he would get back at him for hurting Evaine. This time though, he made sure that he was going to do it. It didn't matter where he was, who was looking. The next time he saw Leroy, he was going to get a beating he would remember. Jim breathed through clenched teeth, trying to get his temper under control. He didn't want Evaine to worry about him, not when she needed to focus on getting better. "Hey, easy there," he said, reaching out to steady her again at hearing her whimper. "Don't strain yourself." He nodded. "Sure. Just tell me if I'm hurting you or something. I don't want to make things worse." He carefully climbed onto the bed, laying down next to her. He gingerly wrapped his arm around her, hoping he wasn't hurting her.

Once Jim got in bed she gently laid her head on his shoulder his arm around her, lucky he didn't hurt her. "I would say run me a cold bath like i did for you." she said closing her eyes hearing his heart beating fast. She knew what it was from, he was still angry because of Leroy "Calm down.." she stroked his jawline gently with her finger, "But unlike you who could walk, you could have to carry me and help me get naked.". Eva slightly blushed but frowned not wanting to see all the bruises on her body, he right go out raged seeing how she looked from the neck down to her knees "But i would not want you to see what i look like.."

Jim laughed a little. "Not sure I'll be able to do that. I might get caught trying to carry you out of here. Besides, I may end up dropping you or bumping you into a door-frame and hurting you or something." Jim didn't trust himself enough to handle Evaine when she was in such delicate condition. Maybe when she was feeling better he would look after her more. But right now, he had to leave her in the hands of the doctors here. They would be able to fix her better than he could. "You're still beautiful, no matter what," he insisted, stroking her hair as he kissed her forehead. "No matter how much your appearance may change, you're still the same on the inside."
