Francis the Owl Empty
PostSubject: Francis the Owl   Francis the Owl EmptyThu Aug 30, 2012 1:37 pm

"Guys, can I please take off this blindfold?" Molly asked exasperatedly. Her uncle John held her by the arm on one side while her cousin Peter held her by the arm on the other. She wasn't exactly sure where they were, but she had known they had apparated there. There were loud sounds coming from all around her, coming from what Molly assumed were other people.

"Soon, soon," John told her and she tried not to let out another sigh. He had been saying that for the past couple of minutes. She wasn't even sure what this was all about. They had just kind of kidnapped her, blindfolded her, took her to where she thought was Hogsmeade, and then they apparated.

"So, Molly," John started, "we were all so busy during November that we had forgotten to give your birthday a really good celebration; you're seventeen now, that's a big age." She could hear the huge grin in his voice.

"It's no big deal, Uncle, I understand," Molly shrugged. It really hadn't been that big of a feal. People got busy, that's just how it was, and yes, while seventeen was a big number, it was still just another age. Though, she was now of legal age, which did put all sorts of pressures on her - such as being the primary caretaker of her grandmother.

"Well, this is your birthday celebration," John announced, whipping off the blindfold. Molly blinked, squinting while her eyes adjusted in the bright light of the sun. When she was able to see clearly, she noticed they were in Daigon Alley. She raised an eyebrow, curious as to what her uncle was getting her into her.

"Molly," Peter spoke up on her other side. Molly turned around to look down at him. "Didn't you always want an owl?" Molly pursed her lips, a little curious as to why he asked.

"Well, yeah, but Grandmother always said we already had one family owl, there was no point in another. Grandpa tried to sneak one in once, but Nana found it and sent it back. She thinks they're dirty," Molly told him, shruggin slightly. Molly was unaware of the huge grin on her uncle's face, but noticed it immediately on Peter's.

Molly opened her mouth to ask something when she was suddenly pushed into a random store. She was a bit overwhelmed until she heard the hooting of an owl.

Molly turned around, shock written all over her face. Landing right in front of her was a medium-sized barn owl. He was quite the beauty, though he was slightly chubby. That was okay, though, because it made him even more adorable. He looked to be about 14.5 inches in length and when he spread his wings, they must have been at least 32 inches. He was pale in color, whites and light browns, and he had dark brown eyes. Molly just stared, still in shock, until the owl hooted again.

"W-what is this? Oh wow," She stuttered, which was most unlike her. She moved closer to get a better look at the beauty. "Oh, well, hello there little owl."

"This," John exclaimed, moving forward, "Is your birthday present!" He seemed so excited, squirming in giddyness. He was obviously very proud of himself for having thought of such an amazing birtday present, and Molly though he really should be.

"We've been keeping this a secret since Christmas!" Peter told her with another large smile. They had already bought him, but kept him at the shop until the right moment to bring Molly down.

Molly couldn't help but smile back at them. "Thank you so much! You guys are really amazing!" She exclaimed, first pulling John into a hug and then Peter. She wasn't even worrying about how her grandmother would react to the owl - if anything, she'd just have to keep him a secret.

"So, what're you going to name him?" Peter asked curiously. Molly smiled once more, looking down at the beautiful owl.

"Francis; I'm going to name him Francis." She told them. The owl, now called Francis, hooted. He moved forward and Molly reached out to pet him. What a perfect pet he would be.
