Class Prep

Dean twitched slightly as he looked over the notes left by his predecessor, the lesson on motor vehicles detailed a 1923 Ford Model T Huckster and absolutely nothing on any modern vehicles.

He rubbed his eyes wearily and gulped down the last mouthful of his coffee, how did they expect students to learn anything when they were being given outdated information.

Grumbling he placed his mug aside and started brewing another pot. Leaving the machine to do its work he began to connect a television to a DVD player, a game system and an old VHS player. He had convinced Dumbledore to allow him to bring in a gasoline-powered generator into the classroom. The headmaster had also placed a charm on the class room so that way the muggle technology would not be affected by the magic within the castle.

He quickly turned the television on and off to make sure it was working, then he grabbed a screwdriver from the desk and popped open the backing to a microwave.

“Teach me to buy things from crazy cat lady yard sales,” he muttered unscrewing one of the bolts.

((I figured I should start somewhere, hope I don't get in anyone's way))

Holli walked into the room and since she had time off she thought of looking around. Holli asked politely as she saw a raven haired man working on something, "Um...excuse me?"

Dean jumped as a bad circuit shocked his fingers the very second that a feminine voice echoed through his class room.

"Damn it!" he cursed sticking his finger into his mouth to ease the sting of the shock.

He looked over at the door and to see a slender blonde woman.

Holli said apologetically as she walked over to him, "Sorry, about that I thought...um..." Holli cleared her throat and said with a smile, "I'm Holli. Holli Would."

"Dean McCoppin," He replied, taking his finger from his mouth. He held out his uninjured hand in greeting, "I'm the new Muggle Studies Professor."

Holli said with a smile as she shook his hand, "I'm the new Divination professor. Sorry again for shocking your hand or finger. It's just i had some time off and I wanted to think of the good old days."

"The blasted contraption shocked my finger, not you," Dean commented shooting a glare at the microwave. It took him a moment to absorb the rest of her statement.

"What good old days?" he scoffed stalking over to the coffee machine, which had finally finished brewing. He lifted the pot and began pouring the dark liquid into his mug.

"Did you want some?" he asked.

Holli said with a sad smile as she sat down, "Just trying to remember the good things about my past than the bad things." Holli was thinking about her past for a little bit until Dean asked for coffee and said with a small smile, "Yes please."

Dean pulled out another cup and filled it with coffee, "Sorry, I don't have any cream or sugar."

He sat back down behind the microwave and continued trying to fix the damn thing, "If you ask me, there is no point in worrying about the past when there is progress to be made."

Holli giggled and said with a smile as she took a sip, "Yes I guess you're right." holli knew that but she knew that those scars of the past can never be healed. Holli asked with a smile, "What made you want to teach this class?"

Dean shrugged, "Dunno, I guess I just like being a muggle more than I like being a wizard."

He glared at a few crossed wires in the microwave and began setting them to rights.

Holli giggled and said with a smile, "I see that you like to work with our hands." Holli said with a light smile, "I like to work with my hands too. Only to tell a person's future of course."

Dean shrugged, "To tell you the truth I don't really believe in divination."

He closed up the back of the microwave and turned the machine around to face him, he pressed a button labeled "popcorn" then one labeled "start". When the machine lit up and started making a low humming sound, he grinned and hit the cancel button.

"I mean, a person can only rely on fate for so long and no one really knows where they're going to go until they get there."

Holli said with a smile, "I believe to both sides and fate can change Dean. It has for me." Holli looked at the old jukebox and asked with a smile, "Tell me Dean do you dance?"

"Nope, that old thing doesn't really work anyway. It only plays one song," Dean had found the jukebox at an auction for next to nothing due to its condition. He had it stored next to a phonograph, and a boom-box as examples of muggle music technology.

Holli asked with a playful smile as she put down her cup, "Have you ever dance with a woman? Or dance at all?" Holli did like this Dean and she thought that he looked handsome.

"Nope," Dean walked over to the only crate he had yet to unpack and pried it open, pulling out his grandfather's cherished firearm collection.

"I prefer not embarrassing myself."

Holli said with a smile, "I could teach you if you want. After all I am a dance teacher in the Muggle World and I am the best in England. Would Studios."

"Thanks for the offer but no," Dean didn't really have any use for dancing and he didn't quite understand why she had brought it up, but it was best to be civil.

"I don't really have any reason to dance," He had set up a glass case at the back of the room and he began placing the guns in the case, his grandfather loved the damn things and he had guns going back to the American Civil War, why, Dean wasn't sure, but the weapons were a good way to show the students that muggles were capable of defending themselves.

Holli made a smile and said as she left, "Let me know if you change your mind."

Dean nodded and gave a slight smile by way of farewell, He doubted he would need it, but he supposed having someone willing to tolerate his presence wasn't a bad thing.

Once she left he continued setting up his classroom until he was satisfied with the result.
